Autumn Magic: A Family Portrait Session in Elk Grove's Parks
As a photographer, there's nothing quite like watching families grow through my lens. This recent fall portrait session in Elk Grove's beautiful park system showcases one of my favorite returning families, who I've had the joy of photographing for three years now.
The session captured the perfect blend of coordinated outfits, with mom stunning in a navy blue dress with delicate details, dad sporting a burgundy sweater over a collared shirt, their daughter in an adorable navy floral dress, and their son in a classic grey polo. The color palette complemented the warm autumn backdrop perfectly, with towering redwoods and golden foliage creating a dreamy setting. I would never have guessed it when mom told me that she hadn’t picked out what they were going to wear until that very morning!
What makes these sessions special is capturing genuine connections. This family's natural chemistry shines through in every shot - from their synchronized smiles to the way they naturally lean into each other. The children's personalities really came through this year, with bright smiles and playful energy that made the session both fun and authentic.
The location choice of Elk Grove's parks provided the ideal backdrop for family portraits. The early morning light filtering through the trees created that coveted morning, golden hour glow, adding warmth and dimension to each photo. The park's natural setting offered variety in our backgrounds, from wooded areas to open, grassy spaces.
